Discover the Joy of Gouache
A Playful, Beginner-Friendly Painting Class
Gouache - like Squash but with a G!
Gouache Painting ClassLive & Online – Sunday, June 8, 10am–3pm PT
No experience necessary | Just 20 spots
What We’re Creating:
A vibrant, joyful painting class designed to introduce you to the world of gouache—a rich, versatile, water-based paint that behaves like a magical hybrid of watercolor, acrylic and oil.
This isn’t just a class; it’s a full-spectrum creative reset.
What You’ll Learn:
We’ll start by getting intimate with gouache—how it works, why it’s different, and why so many artists (including me) take it everywhere. Gouache can be:
Whether you’re a watercolor lover curious about expanding or a total beginner, this class is the perfect gateway.
Here’s Our Journey:
1. Gouache 101
We'll explore the ins and outs of gouache (and yes, how to pronounce it—I've heard every version, and I’ll help you say it like a pro). You'll get to feel the paint in action and understand what makes it so special.
2. The Sphere (aka: Everything Starts Here)
Instead of just talking about how great gouache is, we’ll dive right in. We'll paint a simple dimensional sphere in a landscape—this is foundational. Every tree, tulip, face, or dog begins with the basics of form and light. You’ll get hands-on experience with composition, values, color, and confidence.
3. The Tulip
Why a tulip? It’s the perfect next step—beautiful in shape, rich in contrast, and packed with gentle complexity. Whether you’ve painted florals before or not, this subject will help you understand foreground vs. background, highlights vs. shadows, and overall composition.
This class is Live & Online, meaning you’ll get real-time support, guidance, and feedback throughout. I’ll be right there with you as we paint together, step by step.
Date: Sunday, June 8
Time: 10am–3pm (Pacific) with a break
Where: Live on Zoom
Cost: $99
Includes:
Bonus:
If 6 or more people are interested in an in-person version, I’ll open up a live studio session with supplies included (price will increase slightly). If that sounds like your jam, just let me know!

- Thick and buttery like acrylic or oil
- Translucent and fluid like watercolor
- Easy to travel with
- Inexpensive, reusable, and easy to clean
It's also one of the best ways to practice if you ever want to step into oil painting later on.
